Maths videos

These videos are to support home learning in Reception

Comparing numbers

Can your child use the language; more, less, greater, fewer, the same as and equals to?

Addition to 10 -  if your child is not ready for the number sentences just keep practising putting two groups of objects together and using the correct language; plus /add /equals /the same as.

Number order

This can be adapted to using numbers to 5 or extended to numbers to 20 and above.

Subtraction from 10 - if your child is not ready for the number sentences just keep practising taking a smaller number of objects away from a larger number and using the correct language; take away/subtract/equals /how many left.

Making 5 - Practise making all the numbers.  Start by making 2, how many ways are there?  You can use all anything, it does not have to be the part whole model. E.g. with 6, you could use an egg box.

Number 3 - You can use this for any number, see if your child can work out the answers, pause the video and give them chance to work it out. Have 3 objects near by and something to write on ready for them to use with the video.
